GRAND: The Significance of Scale: Group Exhibition

November 16, 2019 - February 7, 2020
Overview
In a time when almost everything can be seen in the palm of your hand, scale plays an important role in art. Large-scale works have an impact that commands our attention and a power that must be seen in-person to be fully communicated. Artists who dare to work in proportions larger than themselves challenge their physical limits and dream BIG. In these digital times, we scroll through images thinking we have “seen” art, but rarely does that spark an emotional response. However, stand in front of Picasso’s Guernica, which is more than 11 feet tall and 25 feet wide, and you will feel awestruck by its power. There is a compelling argument for us to engage with art face-to-face and consider the significance of scale.
